BayneBox.com is bringing back a wonderful gift item from many years ago. Over 50 years ago, my dad crafted one for Mom that she still uses today. She painted hers white, and has used it as a classic sewing box for as many years as I can remember.

With a great look, versatility, and nostalgic design, this carry-all box can serve a multitude of purposes beyond just looking great on any space it sits atop. From the classic sewing box, yarns and knitting, remote controls or other electronic accessories, even the dinner time silencer where everyone deposits cell phones during the family meal — This box can do it all with classic look in almost any variety of finish.

sewing box we now call the Carry-All Caddy.

On our model, we used Bartley Gel Stain in “Honey” for a fast easy finish with a great look and durability, too. There’s no limit to the ways you can use this Carry-All Caddy.

This versatile piece is made of 1/4” Baltic birch plywood, using a five-ply veneer layup for added strength. The dimensions are 13"W x 12" D x 8 1/2"H.

Want to see how to build it?

Our Carry-All Caddy is a perfect gift for novice woodworkers to build, or you can build it yourself and share it. No matter how you choose to use our Carry-All Caddy, the maker can take pride in saying, “I built it myself.”

    a nice project

Posted by Paul Lingane on Apr 3rd 2017

A nice little project that is just like the description. It has the advantage that it can be broken down for shipment as a gift with simple assembly by the receiver. Most of the time spent on this project is in the finishing, waiting half a day between successive coats of stain and varnish.
